Somatic Movement Educator (SME) Program


REGISTRATION PROCESS & FULL PROGAM PAYMENT SCHEDULE

SME Program or individual courses: A $250 deposit is required to hold your spot. Final balances for the courses are due 2 months before the course begins unless you make payment arrangements with Mary Lou (Program Director.)

Residential options are available for June Courses only.

TUITION

We’ve set up three options for tuition payment for the courses. Please evaluate which option matches your situation and values.

  1. FULL PRICE: The prices for SME courses are based on costs of $150 for a 7-hour day. Paying full price for the course supports this program and the School for Body-Mind Centering® in making these courses available.

  2. BENEFACTOR: Paying 10% more ($165 a day) helps supporting others who cannot afford to attend.

  3. NEEDS-BASED DISCOUNT: Paying 10% less ($135 a day). To receive this discount, we request a one-page letter describing your situation. (Availability of this price depends on enrollment.)

  • Participate by paying Full Price for the course, $150 a day if you:

    • sometimes feel stress about basic needs like food, housing, and transportation at times, but can meet those needs

    • are employed

    • have access to healthcare and savings

    • have access to adequate housing

    • have some expendable income for eating out, coffee to go, movies, books, and now technology

    • can take a vacation every year without significant financial burden

    • want to support SBMC and this program by covering the costs of the course

    • have some family support or have benefitted from family support throughout life

    • are somewhere in the middle of the social matrix - for example, maybe white and trans, or a middle class able-bodied person of color.

  • Participate by choosing the Benefactor option and paying $165 a day if you:

    • have a well-paying job, or don't need to work to meet basic needs

    • have reliable healthcare and financial savings

    • have reliable transportation, secure housing and no food scarcity

    • can pay mortgage, or rent, and car payments without undue stress

    • have expendable income such things as massage, salon haircuts, eating out, coffee to go, new clothes, movies, books and new technology

    • have time and resources for vacations

    • want to assure these experiences are available to many people, and can pay a little more

    • have family wealth and have benefited from family support throughout life

    • benefit from institutional support and social privilege because of aspects of identity (white, male, cis, straight, able-bodied, neuro-normative, US-born)

  • Participate by requesting a Needs Based Discount to pay $135 a day if you:

    • have debt that sometimes prevents meeting basic needs

    • have unstable housing

    • unemployed or underemployed

    • have no access to savings

    • cannot afford eating out, coffee to go, movies, books, and new technology

    • cannot afford a vacation or have the ability to take time off

    • value studying Body-Mind Centering® but it feels out of financial reach

    • support family members or other dependents

    • do not benefit from institutional support and social privilege
